Hey Everyone,

                   Today's topic is going to open a whole new perspective of how you see your computers. Every one of you reading this might have some idea about what is an AI. As the name says intelligence which is not natural but of man-made, that is we are giving Intelligence to something. But what are we giving intelligence to? The answer is easy machines but now what is a machine? Hmm?? A machine is something that makes our life easier. Let us start this topic with the understanding of machines.
 During the industrial age, we had machines making our life easier like lathe machines for crafting iron or spinning or weaving machines which helped in crafting our clothes but a machine does the same thing again and again. For a better example consider the fan and light in your ceiling when you switch it on it runs until you turn the switch off. Your light doesn't switch off as it is morning all by itself or neither do your fan cares whether you feel cold. Here where an AI comes.

What an AI does and how? 

Nowadays technology has bloomed so much that everyone knows everything due to Google, Wikipedia, Youtube. Well, an AI now decides what video you watch. I can't state fake facts in my posts because at an instant you can search and verify it. If you are reading this on an Andriod phone you can use Gboard to search anything I say in an instant without even opening your browser. The search predictions on your google tab the recommended videos on YouTube the ads on Facebook or Instagram about that shoe you recently searched is all AI.

Some of you might know about this concept some may not so I will talk about it anyway. IOT(Internet of Things) through which everything and every appliance in your house can be connected to the internet. Previously I spoke about fan and lights being stupid but it now can be intelligent. If you connect your fan and lights to the internet and control it using your phone and some sensors, It can automatically then detect and turn on or off the lights depending upon your presence in your house or analyzing the time of day like whether there is sunlight or not. The same way your fans can control its speed depending upon the temperature and humidity.

So, how your appliances know what to do and when to do it? It uses a concept of machine learning in which the simple machine learns by itself and evolves and understands things better. The same way your voice assistant like "Ok Google", "Siri" or "Alexa" understands your voice accurately even when you sound sleepy through constantly hearing your voice. A machine learns and thinks by itself without any human interaction is called as Artifical Intelligence.

Let us talk more about AI

After the year 2000, there was an IT revolution taking over the whole known world. Computers were used to perform calculations and certain tasks which we humans found complex. We also loved and preferred computers as it won't get tired and performs tasks without errors and is super fast. So we were dependent on computers and the internet to do everything without a computer or the internet the world would crumble now. Our dream didn't end there we thought why we have to code a computer to do a certain task? why don't we just let the computer do that by itself? Then and AI emerged.

AI has become so advanced now. There is Sofia, a sophisticated AI which was granted citizenship. 

There is a game called GO. It is one of the oldest game known to mankind and was invented 2500 years ago. This game has 10 to the power 150 strategies available and it requires a lot of time to master this game. Google developed an AI to play this game and named it AlphaGo. This AI managed to learn 2500 years of strategy in just 40 days and was able to come up with more strategies and has beat the world champion it learned 10 to the power 150 strategies in just 40 days.

Elon Musk's AI named KillerAI defeated Dota 2(A video game) world champion and Dota 2 is said to be more complex than chess&Go. That to not in one match but in every single match, it crushed the world champion.

Another interesting story about AI, there is a company called Target it is a departmental store and they have an AI to generate personalized user recommendations. It suddenly started sending coupons for baby dresses and baby items to a family. That family didn't have any pregnant woman so the father went to complain and the Target customer care apologized and said it might be a glitch. Then later the father found out that his teenage daughter was pregnant. No one in the family knew but how the AI knew. Well, she was sending messages to her friends informing that she did stuff without protection and she is now pregnant.  Read carefully she didn't post on social media or searched on the internet just she was sending a few messages. The AI read those messages and figured out she was pregnant and started sending baby stuff.

See how our data is being exploited. Not even your message is safe. We may think our messages are encrypted and only the other person can see. It's not the case your messages are stored in the database. All the big tech giants have tie-up Google, Facebook, Instagram etc., and gives everything for free but still how they are one of the most profitable companies? They have all your data and your data is their income. They share data with each other that's why what you search on Google will be at the recommended category of Amazon.

This AI and all these techs just grew in the last three years.

Now, Hold on to your horses the stuffs I discussed and the AI's we talked about now are all weak AI or narrow purpose AI which are just capable of performing only one task.

So there are general purpose AI and Super Intelligent AI.

General purpose AI and Super Intelligent AI

The AI which will be capable of doing multiple tasks falls under this category. The one we see in movies which helps humans do housework are all GPAI.

We are currently trying to code and invent these type of AI. 

A super-intelligent AI will learn everything by itself and can give answers to popular questions like are we alone in the universe? is time travel possible? how to attain light speed? but there lies a moral question on whether we should invent this kind of super AI.

We are expected to attain technological singularity by 2045.

The technological singularity is a hypothesis that anything would be possible with technology and all our questions will be answered.

The Ethical Question

First look at chimpanzees and us we have 96% same DNA traits and with only 4% difference look where we are and where chimpanzees are. We control everything in the world. If we want to set up shop in an animal habitat we don't ask them we just take it. If animals actually had intelligence they could have easily taken us out.

There are 1 million ants to 1 human if ants want they could make us all extinct but they are stupid and we just crush them if we see one.

The same can be said about a Super-Intelligent AI(SIAI) and humans. If we assume the intelligence of humans to be 100 an SIAI's intelligence would be somewhere about 10000000000000000000000000000000000000 and it won't stop there it progresses at every second. So if it sees us as an imbecile it will try to control us or wipe us out of existence if it wishes. Just like we do ants and we won't even see this coming. You may ask how an AI is so intelligent? Well, our brain's processing speed is 200hz but a computer processes at nearly 2Ghz or more and it processes instructions at light speed(300000km/s) while we process at 0.1km/s. It can learn 20,000 years of knowledge within a week.

A simple example is if an AI doesn't want you to communicate to a certain person it will just change the person's number in your contact. You won't even notice it and your phone has the capability to do this as we are not seeing the permissions an app asks. We don't remember everyone's number. We rely on our phone so much this gives an upper hand for the AI.

If it controls the internet it can control all of humanity with ease as military vehicles are now controlled automatically. They will be more efficient in controlling us than our elected rulers. Like if a government says not to use a road we will raise thousands of questions and queries. If an AI doesn't want you to use a road it just has to change the route in your google map and we all will follow it just like sheeps.

Though AI makes our life a lot easier there is a lot of questions like how to be safe and control an AI and be careful so that it won't control us. The answer is to lock it away from the internet but this can't be a solution as we need AI to find answers and solutions and that can't be done without the internet. So whatever we do we can't deny the fact that AI will be billion times smarter than all of humanity. "AI will be Mankind's last invention and we won't be able to control it."
